Fiddler's Grove
- Old Time Fiddlers
and Bluegrass Festival Old Time Fiddlers and Bluegrass Festival, May
22nd-24th, 1998, Fiddler's Grove Campground, Union Grove, North Carolina
Since its inception
nearly three-quarters of a century ago, this fiddling event has focused
on traditional American music. This dedication has earned the event
a reputation as one of the most prestigious and authentic fiddling
competitions in the United States.
Traditional bands
in old time and bluegrass divisions (Junior and Senior categories)
vie for the coveted championships of the festival. In 1997, there
were 41 old time bands and 10 traditional bluegrass bands competing
in the senior division.

Magazine
- Fiddler Magazine
was begun in the spring of 1994, with the aim of providing an informative,
educational, and entertaining resource for fiddlers, accompanists, and
appreciative listeners. Each 50-page issue features a different region
or style of fiddling, as well as other articles and columns: bluegrass
fiddling, "The Practicing Fiddler," contest fiddlers, fiddle care, Irish
fiddling, "The Accompanist" (occasionally), instructional books &
videos, and recordings, to name a few. Each issue also includes transcriptions
of several tunes.
