Ryan founded Captain
Fiddle Publications in 1985 with the publication of The Fiddler's
Almanac, a general reference source about fiddlers and fiddling which
can be presently found in over 3000 libraries in the United States
and Canada. Since that time he has written several more books about
fiddling and folk music.

Carter Fold
- Since 1974, the
Carter Music Center has presented programs of old time and bluegrass
music every weekend. Formally established in 1979, the Center's
objective is to promote old time music and pay tribute to the Original
Carter Family (A.P., Sara, and Maybelle Carter). The site includes

Ohio's traditional and Ethnic Arts Organization. For 16 years we have
brought southwestern Ohio the finest in traditional music and dance
events from around the world and our own backyard. CITYFOLK also brings
Dayton the National Folk Festival, presents film and theatre and conducts
educational workshops - all showcasing a wide range of artists and reflecting
the rich, cultural diversity of the Dayton community.

- Where: Clarion
University in Western Pennsylvania. Clarion Folk College is a fun weekend
of playing and hearing folk music. Pack up your instrument (or voice)
and join us at Clarion University for a weekend full of workshops, jam
sessions, concerts, and group playing. The emphasis of the weekend is
on all folk instruments playing together. Most of the workshops are
open to all instruments, plus there are jam sessions led by festival
staff.
